Compendium of recent projects.

Here are my most recently finished minis. They are the most technically painted, and I think best looking models that I have completed to date, and took an appropriate amount of time.

A recent burst of inspiration from Painting Buddha's tutorial on how to paint an Ultramarine spurred on a spree of glazing, highlighting and tinting. I present the first 5 characters in my first ever Morheim Warband of Marienburgers (picture intensive):

First Kings Of War Mini Finished

I've just finished this Griffon, and I'm quite proud of it. It shows my first (somewhat successful) attempt at non-metallic metal in the form of the silver armour and gold emblem.

The Griffon was mostly airbrushed and dry brushed. The lad took a lot more time. Was it worth it?

Project Basileans!

A little while ago I hinted at my next project, and included a picture of Mantic's logo. Well as it turns out I've gone whole hog on Kings of War, and from the title you might have guessed I've gone for an army of Basileans.

I'll admit though that I have had a bit of hobby ADD. While working on the mantic stuff I've been eyeing a few other game systems and ordered yet more models. The plight of a miniature wargamer. There simply isn't enough free time to enjoy all of the awesome stuff available.

But I digress. Here is the first step of project Basileans. 12 finished bases each complete with its own built in nerve counter disguised as tree trunks. I thought it was pretty clever.

Proof of Live

It hasn't been a very productive 30 days for blogging, but I have managed quite a bit of hobbying. In fact I've more or less finished my Renegades project for now. There are still the ogres to paint, and about 50 troopies to still build, but I think i'm going to put that on the back burner for now.

Back In Business

So my airbrush's 3 replacement nozzles have arrived in the mail. I even have an extra needle for when I inevitably bend that sucker.

Enter Cheat Code: God Mode

So that happened. Fuck yeah! Something I would usually tell people who are new to the hobby: Buy an air brush now, before you buy your next set of models. But you know what? I never listened to my own advice. UNTIL NOW.

A Labor Of Love Weekend

This past labor day weekend was a hobby-less one for me. Being three days long for the both of us, I promised the old lady at least some level of adventure. The photos that follow are of said adventure. I am by no means a pro with a camera, but I dare say that I'm quite proud of some of the shots I managed.

Friday night we stayed in, and fired up the ol' charcoal grill. And by ol' I mean brand spanking new. I bought it at the beginning of the summer, and managed to ignore it until the very last weekend of sun!

We hit up the local farmer's market, and got ourselves some venison sausage, Ontario grown potatoes, zucchini, peppers, and corn. Needless to say it was as delicious as pictured.

An evening with the Undead

Last night I had the pleasure of sitting down with a few friends to hash out some brutal games of Zombicide. Being my fourth session with the game I felt pretty comfortable with the rules, and so did everyone else. After all it's a fairly simple system.

After the preamble for the one completely new player we discussed a few of the fuzzy rules for the returning players.

Evolution: Nurgle Bikers

Warning: Picture heavy post.

So as I said in an earlier post I purchased the Dark Vengeance set back in early 2013. I followed through on my initial plans to completely convert the Dark Angels half of the box to Chaos. Being the filthy scrub that I am I also made the brilliant decision of converting all of the bikers to the cult of Nurgle.

So I purchased an additional 4 bike models for an exorbitant retail price, and got to work.

I knew those Dark Angels were hiding something...

Zombies!

Hey there folks,

The other morning I checked my Youtube subscriptions like I habitually do, and saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVtdodYbupA

After initially watching I didn't think much of it. As the day grew older though it made a habit of bubbling to the front my mind. After work I checked out a few review videos for Zombicide, and play-throughs. Needless to say it took me less than 24 hours to call my local hobby shop, and see if they had it in stock.

Turns out they had it!

Sneaky Sneaky Veterans!

The heaviest conversions of the project to date are here. The final army list was concocted using information like: How many bodies, and legs are available? How many special weapons are in the ol' bitz box?

Platoon Growing Pains

It took me a while, but I finished modeling the 20 Death Korps look-a-likes. I've got to say that getting these guy's arms to fit together properly was an absolute pain. Each pair are made to fit each other exclusively. I'm particularly proud of each squad's champ.

Secret Police

Holy smokes were these guys fun to put together! I decided to dump most of the arms that they came with in favour of the more shredded marauder arms. Welcome to the gun show where shirts are optional, and badassery runs rampant.

Command Crew

I had the pleasure of putting together the platoon command kit. I didn't add too many bits to this squad. A cape from the Mauruder kit was used on one of the riflemen, but other than that this is just the regular crew.

Mobilized Serfs

As I said in my previous post I've been collecting a Black Legion army for the better part of three years. In that window of time I have amassed just shy of 9000 or so points (fully painted I might add) to field on any given occasion. I got to thinking: How can I more fully represent the Black Legion without just duplicating the units that I already own?

Before I answer that question I'll let you get a glimpse at the force so far:

A New Thing

Hello, and welcome to all of you good-looking, hyper intelligent web-surfers who've managed to end up on my blog! I'm late to the blogging party, but somehow having my own place to post hobby progress feels appropriate, (if a little narcissistic) at this point in my hobby career.

On this blog dear reader you will find Nobel prize worthy write ups of my weekly hobby progress with respects to mostly Warhammer 40k. That is of course assuming I don't become hugely discouraged, and laziness hides it's ugly face as I try to settle into a healthy writing routine.
